Frequently asked questions

Can I number only certain pages (e.g. pages 10–50)?

Yes. Set the starting page to 10, starting number to 1 (or 10, depending on your scheme), and the ending page to 50. Pages before and after will not be numbered.

Can I use Roman numerals for the first part and Arabic numerals for the second?

Not in one pass. Download the first half numbered with Roman numerals, then upload that PDF and number pages from the midpoint onward with Arabic numerals.

What if my PDF has very wide margins?

Margins don't matter. You choose the exact position (top-left, bottom-center, etc.), so place numbers where there is space and they won't overlap text.

Will numbering increase the file size?

Slightly. Adding text to each page adds a small amount of data, but typically less than 10% for a 100-page document.

Can I remove page numbers after I've added them?

Not automatically. If you need to undo numbering, re-upload the original PDF. Always keep a backup of your original file.

Can I add different page numbers to different sections (like appendices starting at A1)?

The tool supports Arabic, Roman, and letter sequences, but switching between them mid-document requires multiple passes and manual merging.
