MB (megabyte) = 1,000,000 bytes in decimal (used in marketing). MiB (mebibyte) = 1,048,576 bytes in binary (used by storage hardware). Always use binary for true storage calculations.
Manufacturers advertise in decimal (1 TB = 1,000 GB), but operating systems measure in binary (1 TB = 1,024 GB), so ~100 GB is 'lost' to the math difference. This is normal.
